Honolulu, Hawaii

Collaboration as the architectural designer, programming, interior design and space planning Ohana Symphony Honolulu is a high-rise residential condominium and mixed-use development, and the first project submitted under the HCDA’s new area rules. These rules emphasize sustainability and community connectivity, which have been major considerations in the design and highly visible presence at the Ward-Kapi’olani corner.

Two major design elements compose Ohana Symphony Honolulu: a 43-story high-rise residential development, and Velocity, a world-class exotic auto gallery presenting fine European cars and cycles together with a fine dining restaurant and café. Residents share its extensive “Plaza Earth” 7th floor amenities including lap pool, spas, fitness center with indoor outdoor yoga, locker and sauna room, multimedia, karaoke room, social room with chef’s kitchen, massage therapy, barbeque and party pavilions, showcase grill, guest suites.

The overall design vision is the product of intensive collaboration with Tower and Velocity clients, and a charette process, which included guest architects, interior designers, contractors, brokers, engineers, and other specialty consultants. Discussion and thought derived from learning and understanding the Tower and Velocity as expressions of the clients’ missions and brands. The overall vision is about elegant, timeless, understated design, which says “more with less.”
